WHEREAS, the Honorable Reginald Meeks represented the 42nd District in the Kentucky House of Representatives for over 20 years;
WHEREAS, Mr. Meeks served the local community as 11th Ward Alderman from 1982 to 2000, working for legislation that improved the quality of life in West Louisville;
WHEREAS, Mr. Meeks served the University of Louisville administrative offices, establishing and implementing programming for the community at public locations, including libraries, the Americana Center, the Wesley House, the Muhammed Ali Center, and the Kentucky Center for African-American Heritage;
WHEREAS, Mr. Meeks taught at McKendree University in subjects such as American Government, ethics and public policy, history, Native American studies, and political science.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL OF THE LOUISVILLE/JEFFERSON COUNTY METRO GOVERNMENT AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION I: Reginald Meeks' service to his community and the citizens of Louisville Metro is hereby recognized with the placement of an honorary street sign on the corner of Virginia Avenue and 28th Street so designated as "Reginald Meeks Way."
SECTION II: The Department of Public Works is hereby directed to move forward with the fabrication and installation of the honorary street sign upon the passage of this Resolution and the receipt of funds to cover the expense.
SECTION III: This Resolution shall take effect upon its passage and approval or otherwise becoming law.
