TITLE
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ACCEPT $5,430,961 OF SUPPLEMENTAL CORONAVIRUS AID, RELIEF AND ECONOMIC SECURITIES (CARES) ACT FUNDING THROUGH THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT (HUD) FOR THE EMERGENCY SOLUTIONS GRANT PROGRAM TO CONTINUE EFFORTS IN SUPPORTING COMMUNITY NEEDS AND RESPONDING TO THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC

WHEREAS, The Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Securities (CARES) Act provides funding to enable communities to prevent, prepare for, and respond to coronavirus through providing quality subsidized housing and expanding economic opportunities for low- and moderate-income persons through Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) programs;
WHEREAS, Metro Government wishes to enter into this agreement with U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development;
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL OF THE LOUISVILLE/JEFFERSON COUNTY METRO GOVERNMENT (THE COUNCIL) AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I: The Mayor is hereby authorized to accept $5,430,961 of supplemental Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Securities (CARES) Act funding through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for the Emergency Solutions Grant Program to continue efforts in supporting community needs and responding to the COVID-19 pandemic.
SECTION II: This Resolution shall take effect upon its passage and approval.
