RESOLUTION HONORING GE APPLIANCES, A HAIER COMPANY, BY DEDICATING AN ACCESS DRIVE NEAR BUECHEL BANK ROAD AND POPLAR LEVEL ROAD AS " GE WAY” IN RECOGNITION OF THE 5TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE U.S. CORPORATE HEADQUARTERS OF GE APPLICANCES, A HAIER COMPANY, IN APPLIANCE PARK.

WHEREAS, the Louisville/Jefferson County Metro Government Legislative Council wishes to recognize GE Appliances, a Haier Company (“GEA”) for its consistent commitment and dedication to our city;
WHEREAS, GEA has invested over a billion dollars to expand production and distribution;
WHEREAS, During the last five years, GEA has consistently invested in Appliance Park, generating thousands of new jobs, launching new product lines, and bringing manufacturing to the city;
WHEREAS, GEA supports local education and talent development by investing in Jefferson County Public Schools, Jefferson County Technical College, and the University of Louisville;
WHEREAS, GEA considers its work culture, its commitment to the country and its investment in our community, the reliability GEA demonstrates in its engagement with customers and users, as the “GEA Way”;
WHEREAS, GEA wishes to celebrate and acknowledge the great things that are happening at GEA and Appliances Park by designating the access drive near Buechel Bank Road and Popular Level Road as “GEA Way”.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL OF THE LOUISVILLE/JEFFERSON COUNTY METRO AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I: In recognition of GEA’s continued commitment to Louisville Metro, GEA shall be honored with an honorary street sign in Appliance Park, near Buechel Bank Road and Popular Level Road, in Louisville, Kentucky, to be designated as “GEA Way.” The Department of Public Works is hereby directed to move forward with fabrication and installation of the honorary street sign upon the passage of the resolution. GEA, having agreed to provide funding for the signage, shall coordinate payment with the Department of Public Works to cover the expense.
SECTION II: This Resolution shall take effect upon its passage and approval.
