WHEREAS, in order to select quality trees to plant to combat the loss of the tree canopy in Louisville and fight the effects of the Metro heat island, multiple contracts are required because no one supplier will have the quantity and quality of trees necessary; and

WHEREAS, stock held by multiple tree wholesalers must be evaluated at the time of tree planting season on-sight on the basis of species needed, quality of stock, size of stock, quantity of stock and price, making each supplier a sole source as to the trees in its possession at the time Metro needs them; and

WHEREAS, noncompetitive contracts are therefore necessary.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL OF THE LOUISVILLE/JEFFERSON COUNTY METRO GOVERNMENT AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION I:                     The following appropriation for the listed contract is hereby approved:

METRO PARKS

$75,000.00 for a Sole Source Contract with Snow Hill Nursery, Inc. for trees as required based upon review of species needed, quality of stock, size of stock, quantity of stock and price from October 1, 2021 through April 1, 2022.

SECTION II:                     This Resolution shall take effect upon its passage and approval.
