WHEREAS, Alan Scherer has made his home in the Deer Park Neighborhood of the Highlands since the mid 1970's; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Scherer was a founding member of the Highland Connection, predecessor to the District 8 Advisory Group; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Scherer was an initial member of the Bardstown Road Overlay Committee; and
WHEREAS, across numerous mayoral administrations, and in conjunction with three District 8 Council representatives, Mr. Scherer has remained dedicated to advancing the issues and concerns of his District 8 neighbors.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL OF THE LOUISVILLE/JEFFERSON COUNTY METRO GOVERNMENT AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION I: Alan Scherer is hereby recognized for his exemplary community service with the placement of an honorary street sign naming the alleyway bounded by Stevens Avenue, Fernwood Avenue, and Sherwood Avenue to be designated as "Alan Scherer Alley."
SECTION II: The Department of Public Works is hereby directed to move forward with the fabrication and installation of the honorary street sign upon the passage of this Resolution and the receipt of funds from Council District 8 and the Deer Park Neighborhood Association to cover the expense.
SECTION III: This Resolution shall take effect upon its passage and approval or otherwise becoming law.
