WHEREAS, Mr. Donnie Burton has provided a safe environment for neighborhood adults to bond and mingle for the past 46 years at the 100 Pipers Club. 100 Pipers Club is often referred to by its patrons as the "Cheers in the Hood". 100 Pipers Club is a place where everyone knows each other, bonding like family;
WHEREAS, Mr. Burton, who is 81 years old, when asked about retiring, responded, "Where would my friends go - how would they continue to see each other?" Mr. Burton remains dedicated to providing a space that continues to put smiles on faces and joy in others' hearts; and
WHEREAS, Council recognizes the importance of providing spaces for its citizens to develop a greater sense of community.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL OF THE LOUISVILLE/JEFFERSON COUNTY METRO GOVERNMENT AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION I: Mr. Donnie Burton's service to his community by providing a space for his neighbors to enrich their experience as citizens of Louisville Metro is hereby recognized with the placement of an honorary street sign on the corner of 2801 West Chestnut and 28th Street and so designated as "Donnie Burton's 100 Pipers Way".
SECTION II: The Department of Public Works is hereby directed to move forward with the fabrication and installation of the honorary street sign upon the passage of this Resolution and the receipt of funds to cover the expense.
SECTION III: This Resolution shall take effect upon its passage and approval or otherwise becoming law.
