A RESOLUTION HONORING GREG ALLEN BY DEDICATING THE CORNER OF VARBLE AVENUE AND SOUTHWESTERN PARKWAY AS "GREG ALLEN WAY" IN HIS HONOR.

WHEREAS, Mr. Greg Allen is retiring from the United States Postal Service after over 40 years of service;
WHEREAS, Mr. Allen has been a dedicated, faithful, and diligent letter carrrier, often seen delivering mail after dark and as late as 10:00 P.M. When asked about his late hours, Mr. Allen responded, "Somebody has to get the mail out to the residents;"
WHEREAS, in addition to being faithful in his job, Mr. Wagner was often seen helping an elderly person get in or out of a car, helping them into their home, and always having a kind word to say; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Allen has been active in the neighborhood, making contributions to the former neighborhood association.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL OF THE LOUISVILLE/JEFFERSON COUNTY METRO GOVERNMENT AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I: Mr. Allen's service to his community and the citizens of Louisville Metro is hereby recognized with the placement of an honorary street sign on the corner of Varble Avenue and Southwestern Parkway so designated as "Greg Allen Way".
SECTION II: The Department of Public Works is hereby directed to move forward with the fabrication and installation of the honorary street sign upon the passage of this Resolution and the receipt of funds to cover the expense.
SECTION III: This Resolution shall take effect upon its passage and approval or otherwise becoming law.
