AN ORDINANCE CREATING CHAPTER 149 AND REPEALING AND REPLACING
SECTIONS OF CHAPTER 156 OF THE LOUISVILLE METRO CODE OF ORDINANCES
RELATING TO OWNERS OF PROPERTY ON WHICH REOCCURRING CRIME IS
NEGATIVELY IMPACTING SURROUNDING NEIGHBORHOODS.

Flood, that this Ordinance be recommended for approval.

The following was discussed:
- There was a discussion regarding nuisance locations that take away the
quality of life in Louisville neighborhoods and what should be updated
regarding the pending legislation.
- There was an explanation from the Jefferson County Attorney's Office on
what updates were made for the pending legislation.
- There was a discussion regarding several articles that have been written on
victims of crime who were evicted over this amended legislation.
- There were several questions and discussion regarding the wording and
clauses of the pending legislation.
- There were discussions regarding the amendments made to the legislation
and what it would mean for properties and residents in the nuisance locations.
- There was a discussion regarding what steps the Committee and sponsors of
the pending legislation should take in regards to the changes made in the
pending legislation.
- There was a discussion regarding what protocols police officers follow in
regards to ordinances and Kentucky Revised Statutes.
- There was a discussion regarding tenants in the previously discussed
nuisance locations and the pending legislation intentions.
A motion was made by Vice Chair Peden, seconded by Committee Member
Flood, that this Ordinance be tabled.
This motion to table carried by the following voice vote and the Ordinance
was tabled.
