A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ACCEPT UP TO $107,250,000 OF FUNDING FROM THE COMMONWEALTH OF KENTUCKY THROUGH THE DEPARTMENT FOR LOCAL GOVERNMENT (“DLG”), AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING LOUISVILLE METRO GOVERNMENT TO EXECUTE ANY DOCUMENTS WHICH ARE DEEMED NECESSARY BY DLG TO CARRY OUT VARIOUS PROJECTS, AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ACT AS THE AUTHORIZED CORRESPONDENT FOR THESE PROJECTS.

WHEREAS, the Louisville Metro Government desire to promote and carry out community development efforts on behalf of the residents of the City by supporting the HB 900 and HB 500 Projects; and

WHEREAS, it is recognized that HB 900 and HB 500 funding available to the City for the purposes stated herein, pursuant to 2026 Kentucky General Assembly HB 900 (Capital Appropriations Bill) and HB 500 (Operating Budget), impose certain obligations and responsibilities upon the City and will require among other things: (1) Approval of a satisfactory application transmitted to DLG for approval, (2) Registration with the Finance & Administration Cabinet to do business with the Commonwealth, and (3) Other obligations of the City in connection with receiving the HB 900 grant of funding for the purposes stated herein; and

WHEREAS, these funds will be used to support the following projects: The Belvedere, Community Care Campus, Downtown Investment Fund, Convention Center Corridor, LOUMED Campus, Cedar Creek Site Access Improvements, Brownfield Redevelopment, Oak Street Revitalization, a First Responders Training Driving Track, and Maintenance and Expansion at the Louisville Zoo; and

WHEREAS, the Metro Government wishes to take advantage of this opportunity through the Department of Public Works & Assets, Department of Economic Development, Louisville Zoo, and Office of Facilities and Fleet.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL OF THE LOUISVILLE/JEFFERSON COUNTY METRO GOVERNMENT AS FOLLOWS:

 

SECTION I:                     The Mayor is hereby authorized to accept up to $107,250,000 of funding from the Commonwealth of Kentucky through the Department of Local Government (“DLG”), authorizing and directing Louisville Metro Government to execute any documents which are deemed necessary by DLG to carry out various projects, and authorizing the Mayor to act as the authorized correspondent for these projects.  

SECTION II: This Resolution shall take effect upon its passage and approval or otherwise becoming law.
