A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE PLANNING COMMISSION REVIEW SECTION 4.3.20 OF THE LAND DEVELOPMENT CODE TITLED “MIXED RESIDENTIAL DEVELOPMENT INCENTIVE (MRDI)”.

WHEREAS, in Ordinance No. 141, Series 2015, the Legislative Council of the Louisville/Jefferson County Metro Government (the “Council”) amended the Land Development Code (the “LDC”) creating Section 4.3.20, titled Mixed Residential Development Incentive (MRDI); and
WHEREAS, one stated purpose of the MRDI was to “encourage the provision of appropriate and inclusive housing ownership options at variable price points throughout all of Jefferson County”; and
WHEREAS, the MRDI has been rarely used since its adoption; and
WHEREAS, since the creation of the MRDI, the Council has updated the Comprehensive Plan with Plan 2040 and is currently undergoing reviews of various sections of the LDC to ensure it complies with the new Plan; and
WHEREAS, the Council has taken note of a sudden interest in the utilization of the MRDI and wishes to ensure that the MRDI is properly reviewed through the lens of Plan 2040.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL OF THE LOUISVILLE/JEFFERSON COUNTY METRO GOVERNMENT AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I: The Planning Commission shall undertake a review of Section 4.3.20 of the Land Development Code, known as the MRDI, and recommend amendments thereto to the Council.
SECTION II: This Ordinance shall take effect upon its passage and approval or otherwise becoming law.
