TITLE
A RESOLUTION HONORING MR. JULIO RODRIGUEZ BY NAMING THE CORNER OF DUNCAN STREET AND NORTH 36TH STREET AS “JULIO RODRIGUEZ WAY” IN HIS HONOR.

WHEREAS, Metro Council considers the honorary naming of its streets after its citizens to foster a continued sense of community, place, and history; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Julio Rodriguez was born in Poce, Puerta Rico on December 31, 1946. Mr. Rodriguez moved with his parents to Bronx, New York in 1955. He graduated from Morris High School in 1961. He later joined the United States Army in 1968; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Rodriguez relocated to Louisville in 1972 and enrolled in Jefferson Community College studying Psychology. He joined the Shawnee Neighborhood Association 1982 where he lent his voice, passion, and heart to community development.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL OF THE LOUISVILLE/JEFFERSON COUNTY METRO GOVERNMENT AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I: Mr. Rodriguez’s dedicated service and commitment to Louisville Metro is hereby recognized by naming the corner of Duncan Street and North 36th Street as “Julio Rodriguez Way” in his honor.
SECTION II: The Department of Public Works is hereby directed to move forward with the fabrication and installation of the honorary street signs upon the passage of this Resolution and the receipt of funds to cover the expense.
SECTION III: This Resolution shall take effect upon its passage and approval or otherwise becoming law.
