TITLE
AN ORDER TO INITIATE AN INVESTIGATION INTO WHETHER COUNCIL MEMBER VITALIS LANSHIMA'S CANDIDACY FOR NATIONAL OFFICE IN NIGERIA HAS IMPACTED HIS ELIGIBILITY AND REPRESENTATION OF DISTRICT 21.

WHEREAS, Vitalis Lanshima was appointed by Metro Council on December 14, 2017 to fill a vacancy of the unexpired term of Metro Council District 21;
WHEREAS, in mid-2018, Council Member Lanshima publicly announced his candidacy for national office in Nigeria while holding his position as a Metro Council Member;
WHEREAS; Council Member Lanshima has been absent from numerous committee and council meetings since pursuing elected office in Nigeria, which raises the concern that he is not performing his official duties for the constituents of District 21; and
WHEREAS, Under KRS ? 67C.103(13)(f), Metro Council has the power to investigate how constituents of District 21 are impacted by Council Member Lanshima's candidacy for national office in Nigeria.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT ORDERED BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL OF THE LOUISVILLE/JEFFERSON COUNTY METRO GOVERNMENT AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION I: Metro Council hereby initiates an investigation concerning whether Council Member Lanshima's candidacy for national office in Nigeria has affected his eligibility or representation of District 21.
SECTION II: This Order shall take effect upon its passage and approval.
