A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ACCEPT A GRANT OF $75,000 FROM THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE (“USDA”) TO BE ADMINISTERED BY LOUISVILLE FORWARD.

WHEREAS, the Metro Government was selected by the USDA to participate in a research program designed to better understand the benefits and challenges of value-chain facilitation in growing local and regional food economies, and will provide a $75,000 grant for this purpose; and
WHEREAS, the USDA and Metro Government will agree on a scope of work for the use of these funds, which must be expended for the general purpose of advancing connections between farmers and buyers through the development of strategies to enhance existing connections and develop new ones over several regions of Kentucky, including Louisville; and
WHEREAS, Metro Government wishes to accept this money.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL OF THE LOUISVILLE/JEFFERSON COUNTY METRO GOVERNMENT (“THE COUNCIL”) AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I: The Mayor is authorized to accept a $75,000 grant from the USDA to participate in the USDA’s value-chain facilitation research program.
SECTION II: This Resolution shall become effective upon its passage and approval.
