A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ACCEPT UP TO $250,000 FROM THE COMMONWEALTH OF KENTUCKY DEPARTMENT FOR LOCAL GOVERNMENT FOR THE RECREATIONAL TRAILS PROGRAM TO BE ADMINISTERED BY THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS AND ASSETS.

WHEREAS, these funds will be used to acquire, develop, and renovate recreational resources to provide for the health and well-being of the general public; and
WHEREAS, Metro Government intends to make application to the Commonwealth of Kentucky Department for Local Government for assistance under the Recreational Trails Program; and
WHEREAS, Metro Government will hold in reserve twenty percent (or $62,500) of the proposed project costs for the purpose of matching the Recreational Trails Program assistance through the Commonwealth of Kentucky Department for Local Government; and
WHEREAS, Metro Government wishes to take advantage of this opportunity through the Department of Public Works and Assets.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL OF THE LOUISVILLE/JEFFERSON COUNTY METRO GOVERNMENT AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I: The Mayor is hereby authorized to accept up to $250,000 from the Commonwealth of Kentucky Department for Local Government for the Recreational Trails Program to be administered by the Department of Public Works & Assets.
SECTION II: In the event a grant is awarded, Metro Government understands that it will sign assurances to comply with all applicable Federal and State laws, rules and regulations, especially Title VI of the Civil Rights Act and Section 504 of the 1973 Rehabilitation Act.
SECTION III: In the event a grant is awarded, the Mayor is hereby appointed to enter into said Agreement and to execute all documents necessary to effectuate the closing of the Agreement.
SECTION IV: This Resolution shall take effect upon its passage and approval or otherwise becoming law.
