A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ACCEPT $30,000 OF FUNDING FROM THE MOTOR CARRIER SAFETY ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (“MCSAP”) THROUGH THE INTERSTATE EMPHASIS GRANT PROGRAM TO BE ADMINISTERED BY THE LOUISVILLE METRO POLICE DEPARTMENT.

WHEREAS, The MCSAP grant program provides financial assistance to reduce the number and severity of crashes and hazardous materials incidents involving commercial motor vehicles; and
WHEREAS, these funds will be used to target unsafe driving of commercial motor vehicles and non-commercial motor vehicles operating in the immediate vicinity of areas identified as high crash corridors; and
WHEREAS, the Metro Government wishes to take advantage of this opportunity through the Louisville Metro Police Department.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL OF THE LOUISVILLE/JEFFERSON COUNTY METRO GOVERNMENT AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I: The Mayor is hereby authorized to accept $30,000 of funding from the Motor Carrier Safety Assistance grant program, to be administered by the Louisville Metro Police Department.
SECTION II: This Resolution shall take effect upon its passage and approval or otherwise becoming law.
