A RESOLUTION HONORING MR. MCDANIEL BLUITT BY DEDICATING THE CORNER OF 44TH STREET AND WEST BROADWAY TO BE NAMED "MCDANIEL BLUITT WAY" IN HIS HONOR.

WHEREAS, Mr. Bluitt, a native of Cosby, Texas, his wife Mrs. Mamie Bluitt, and their seven children, have lived in Louisville, KY, for over 50 years; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Bluitt completed his Bachelor of Music Education degree at the University of Louisville School of Music and received a Masters degree in counseling from Western Kentucky University; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Bluitt toured the United States and Canada as a bandleader and performer with Motown Records; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Bluitt taught vocal and instrumental music education for 28 years before retiring from Jefferson County Public Schools; and
WHEREAS, McDaniel Bluitt will long be remembered for his crowning achievement: the West Louisville Performing Arts Academy, forming known as the Moor Temple Boys Choir, a choral tradition in the community for nearly 30 years; and
WHEREAS, the original choir grew under the Bluitt's leadership from the original boys' choir to the West Louisville Boys Choir, then the addition of a girls' choir, instrument performance education, summer camps, and youth empowerment and education programs all of which today comprises the West Louisville Performing Arts Academy; and
WHEREAS, the West Louisville Performing Arts Academy has performed throughout the community, at national events, and in England; and
WHEREAS, the Academy continues to press toward excellence in education and youth empowerment through music education and the performing arts.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL OF THE LOUISVILLE/JEFFERSON COUNTY METRO GOVERNMENT AS FOLLOWS:
