A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE NAMING OF ONE OF THE FIVE ANIMAL SERVICES BUILDINGS AS THE "KAREN AND HOYT LITTLE COMMUNITY CAT COMPLEX."

WHEREAS, In 1999, Karen and Hoyt Little founded Alley Cat Advocates, a small non-profit organization that traps, neuters, and returns cats to their outside home as a way to tackle Louisville Metro's stray cat problem; and
WHEREAS, For over twenty (20) years, Karen and Hoyt Little have generously donated their time and efforts to Louisville Metro Animal Services and their hard work saves Metro Government a minimum of $500,000 per year; and
WHEREAS, Under Karen and Hoyt Little's leadership, Alley Cat Advocates has altered just shy of 50,000 community cats and worked to transform the culture of care provided community cats in the region; and
WHEREAS, Due to the Little's hard work over the years, Louisville Metro Animal Services does not euthanize community cats, unless there is a medical necessity; and
WHEREAS, LMCO ? 39.033 authorizes the Legislative Council of the Louisville/Jefferson County Metro Government with final approval of the naming of a Metro Government facility; and
WHEREAS, Louisville Metro Government desires that "Building B" of the Louisville Metro Animal Services Complex located at 3524 Newburg Road, be named the "Karen and Hoyt Little Community Cat Complex."
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL OF THE LOUISVILLE/JEFFERSON COUNTY METRO GOVERNMENT ("COUNCIL") AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I: Per Louisville Metro Code of Ordinances ? 39.033, the Legislative Council of the Louisville/Jefferson County Metro Government hereby approves the naming of "Building B" of the Louisville Metro Animal Services Complex, located at 3524 Newburg Road, as the "Karen and Hoyt Little Community Cat Complex."
