A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO MAKE APPLICATION FOR AND, UPON APPROVAL, TO ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH THE KENTUCKY OFFICE OF HOMELAND SECURITY (KOHS), TO EXECUTE ANY DOCUMENTS WHICH ARE DEEMED NECESSARY BY KOHS TO FACILITATE AND ADMINISTER THE PROJECT AND TO ACT AS THE AUTHORIZED CORRESPONDENT FOR THIS PROJECT IN THE AMOUNT OF $277,000 FOR THE PURCHASE OF A REHAB AND RESPONSE VEHICLE TO BE ADMINISTERED BY THE LOUISVILLE METRO POLICE DEPARTMENT.

WHEREAS, Louisville Metro Government wishes to make an application for United States Department of Homeland Security and/or Commonwealth of Kentucky funds for a project to be administered by the Kentucky Office of Homeland Security through the Louisville Metro Police Department; and
WHEREAS, it is recognized that an application for and approval of the Kentucky Office of Homeland Security funds impose certain obligations and responsibilities upon the city.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL OF THE LOUISVILLE/JEFFERSON COUNTY METRO GOVERNMENT AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I: The Mayor is hereby authorized to execute and furnish all required documents, including a memorandum of agreement, as may be required by KOHS for the furtherance of the above referenced project and to act as the authorized correspondent for said project.
SECTION II: The Mayor is hereby authorized to accept up to $277,000 from the Kentucky Office of Homeland Security to purchase a rehab and response vehicle to supplement LMPD's chemical, radiological, and nuclear response capabilities.
SECTION III: This Resolution shall become effective upon its passage and approval or otherwise becoming law.
