A RESOLUTION HONORING THE WORK OF OMEGA PSI PHI FRATERNITY, INC. AND ITS LOCAL CHAPTER THETA OMEGA, INC. BY DEDICATING THE SOUTHERN CORNERS OF CHESTNUT STREET AND 24TH STREET AND CHESNUT STREET AND 26TH STREET TO BE NAMED "THETA OMEGA WAY, OMEGA PSI PHI FRATERNITY, INC." IN THEIR HONOR.

WHEREAS, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. is a fraternal organization dedicated to leadership, scholarship, and community service; and
WHEREAS, Theta Omega, Inc., as the local chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., has exemplified the fraternal organization's mission here in Louisville, KY, where members proudly serve in leadership roles in education, business, government, and healthcare; and
WHEREAS, Theta Omega, Inc. continues to lead its community through community service, recently partnering with city officials to restore a local historic building as a beacon of hope to the community; and
WHEREAS, Theta Omega, Inc. considers its most critical mission to be its outreach to young men in the community, preparing them for future success in the local workforce by empowering them on their academic journey with mentorships and scholarships; and
WHEREAS, Theta Omega, Inc. celebrates its Men of Quality Mentoring Initiative and its 25-year partnership with Jefferson County Public Schools, having approximately 30 local clubs with over 300 students. The Initiative prepares students to set and meet educational goals, and through direct mentorship, helps raise students' expectations of success in the classroom.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL OF THE LOUISVILLE/JEFFERSON COUNTY METRO GOVERNMENT AS FOLLOWS:
