TITLE
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ACCEPT A GRANT OF $88,719.00 FROM THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE ("USDA") TO FUND THE LOUISVILLE FARMERS MARKET COORDINATION, ACCESS AND CAPACITY-BUILDING PROJECT.

WHEREAS, the Metro Government, acting by and through Economic Development, made application to the USDA for funding to coordinate and build capacity among Louisville farmers markets, and to expand the number of markets able to accept payment from individuals wishing to purchase food using benefits received through the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program ("SNAP"); and
WHEREAS, the USDA awarded Metro Government a $88,719.00 grant for this purpose under the USDA's Farmers Market Promotion Program, and
WHEREAS, Metro Government wishes to accept this funding,
BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL OF THE LOUISVILLE/JEFERSON COUNTY METRO GOVERNMENT (THE COUNCIL) AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I: The Mayor is authorized to accept an $88,719.00 grant from the USDA to support the Louisville Farmers Market Coordination, Access and Capacity-Building Project.
SECTION II: This Resolution shall become effective upon its passage and approval.
