A RESOLUTION AMENDING SECTION 1.06 OF THE RULES OF THE LOUISVILLE/JEFFERSON COUNTY METRO GOVERNMENT COUNCIL.

WHEREAS, Metro Council wishes to amend the Rules of the Council to extend the term of Metro Council President from a one year to a two year term; and
WHEREAS, Metro Council wishes to amend the Rules of the Council to limit the members of Metro Council from serving as Metro Council President for more than two consecutive terms.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL OF THE LOUISVILLE/JEFFERSON COUNTY METRO GOVERNMENT (THE COUNCIL) AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: Section 1.06 of the Rules of Louisville/Jefferson County Metro Government Council is hereby amended to read as follows:

The presiding officer of a consolidated local government council shall be a president who shall be chosen bi-annually by a majority vote of the entire council from among its members at the first meeting of the council in January. The term of the president will be two years. No member shall serve as president for more than two consecutive terms. A member is deemed to have completed a full term as president if he or she resigns prior to expiration of the term or is appointed to fill a vacancy of the president. The council president has the right to introduce any resolution or recommend any ordinance and shall be entitled to vote on all matters.
Section 2: This resolution shall be effective upon its passage and approval.
