AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 72 OF THE LOUISVILLE METRO CODE OF ORDINANCES REGARDING PARKING FOR VETERANS AWARDED A PURPLE HEART.

WHEREAS, the Louisville Metro Council wishes to offer its support and appreciation for the most distinguished veterans of the United States Armed Forces; and
WHEREAS, Metro Council wishes to amend Chapter 72 of the Louisville Metro Code of Ordinances to waive the two hour parking fee for vehicles with a Purple Heart license plate at on-street parking metered spaces controlled by Louisville Metro Government.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL OF THE LOUISVILLE/JEFFERSON COUNTY METRO GOVERNMENT (THE COUNCIL) AS FOLLOWS:
Section I. Section 72.003 of the Louisville Metro Code of Ordinances is hereby amended to read as follows:
? 72.003 SPECIAL PARKING PERMIT AND LICENSE PLATE PARKING.
(A) Pursuant to state law, the Jefferson County Clerk shall issue a qualified person with a disability or a temporary disability an accessible parking placard. The Jefferson County Clerk is hereby authorized to formulate rules and regulations necessary to implement the accessible parking permit program.
(B) Pursuant to state law, vehicle operators with a Purple Heart license issued by any county clerk in Kentucky are entitled to the parking privileges set forth in ? 72.004(B).
Section II. Section 72.004 of the Louisville Metro Code of Ordinances is hereby amended to read as follows:
? 72.004 PARKING WITH SPECIAL PERMITS FOR PERSONS WITH A DISABILITY AND PERSONS WITH A PURPLE HEART LICENSE PLATE.
