AN ORDINANCE FOR LOUISVILLE METRO GOVERNMENT TO REJECT LG&E’S BID FOR NATURAL GAS FRANCHISE.

WHEREAS, pursuant to Kentucky state law, Louisville Metro Government publicly advertised a natural gas franchise during the first week of January 2016;
WHEREAS, Louisville Metro Government received one natural gas franchise proposal in response to its advertisement from Louisville Gas & Electric (“LG&E”) on January 15, 2016 (copy is attached hereto);
WHEREAS, Louisville Metro chooses not to accept the one gas franchise proposal; and
WHEREAS, Louisville Metro plans to publicly advertise for a gas franchise in the near future as required under Kentucky law.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL OF THE LOUISVILLE/JEFFERSON COUNTY METRO GOVERNMENT AS FOLLOWS:
Section I. Louisville Metro Council rejects LG&E’s bid for natural gas franchise.
Section II. Louisville Metro Council is hopeful that a new franchise agreement will be negotiated quickly to reach a fair and reasonable agreement that is satisfactory for the bidder and Louisville Metro Government.
Section III. This ordinance shall take effect upon its passage and approval.
