WHEREAS, Rev. Eddie L. White has been a minister at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Louisville Metro for 44 years;
WHEREAS, Rev. White has established several programs in the church in order to minister to his community, including a youth church, a couples enrichment ministry, a drug addiction program, a tutoring program, and a Black History Committee;
WHEREAS, Rev. White has received numerous accolades over the years for his work throughout the community, including, but not limited to, being named Man of the Year by the Kentucky Southern Christian Leadership Conference and Who's Who among American Junior Colleges by Jefferson Community College, and being recognized by Louisville Metro Councilmembers for the Distinguished Citizen Award and for his many years of dedicated service to the Ebenezer Baptist Church; and
WHEREAS, Rev. White has been accompanied in his life journey over the last 50 years by his wife Lynett, and they have two children and three grandchildren.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL OF THE LOUISVILLE/JEFFERSON COUNTY METRO GOVERNMENT AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION I: Rev. Eddie L. White's service to Louisville Metro is hereby recognized with the placement of an honorary street sign near the Ebenezer Baptist Church, located on the northeast corner of 28th and Grand Streets in Louisville, Kentucky, and so designated as "Rev. Dr. E. L. White Ave."

SECTION II: The Department of Public Works is hereby directed to move forward with fabrication and installation of an honorary sign upon the passage of this Resolution and the receipt of funds to cover the expense.
SECTION III: This Resolution shall take effect upon its passage and approval.
