AN ORDINANCE APPROVING THE APPROPRIATION OF SIX HUNDRED FORTY THREE THOUSAND SIX HUNDRED SIXTY ONE DOLLARS AND FIVE CENTS ($643,661.05) BUT NOT TO EXCEED SEVEN HUNDRED THOUSAND ($700,000.00) TO ADDRESS THE LITIGATION BY APPROXIMATELY FORTY-TWO (42) PLAINTIFFS, FORMER AND CURRENT MEMBERS OF THE LOUISVILLE FIRE DEPARTMENT, FOR WAGE AND HOUR AND CONTRACTUAL CLAIMS.

WHEREAS, In consultation with the County Attorney and outside legal counsel, it is in the best financial interest of Louisville Metro to tender a payment of six hundred forty three thousand six hundred sixty one dollars and five cents ($643,661.05) but not to exceed seven hundred thousand ($700,000.00) for associated wage and hour and contractual claims of former and current members of the Louisville Fire Department;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED BY THE METRO COUNCIL AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I: The sum of six hundred forty three thousand six hundred sixty one dollars and five cents ($643,661.05) but not to exceed seven hundred thousand ($700,000.00) is hereby appropriated from the assigned General Fund to address the litigation. The entire sum of up to seven hundred thousand dollars ($700,000.00) is hereby authorized to be transferred to the Risk Management Fund.
SECTION II: This Ordinance shall take effect upon its passage and approval.
