AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $9,200 AS FOLLOWS: $3,000 FROM DISTRICTS 25 AND 14 AND $3,200 FROM DISTRICT 13 NEIGHBORHOOD DEVELOPMENT FUNDS TO METRO PARKS FOR THE FUNDING OF AN OFF-DUTY OFFICER TO CLEAR AND LOCK WAVERLY PARK AND JEFFERSON MEMORIAL FOREST ON FRIDAY AND SATURDAY NIGHTS.

WHEREAS, Metro Council is concerned with public safety at Waverly Park and Jefferson Memorial Park during after-hours; and

 WHEREAS, Metro Council seeks to address this concern with off-duty police officers contracted to clear and lock the gates on Friday and Saturday nights to keep illicit activities out of these neighborhood parks.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL OF THE LOUISVILLE/JEFFERSON COUNTY METRO GOVERNMENT (“COUNCIL”) AS FOLLOWS:

 

SECTION I:                     The amount of $9,200 is hereby appropriated from Neighborhood Development Funds in the following manner:  $3,000 from Districts 25 and 14 and $3,200 from District 13, through the Office of Management and Budget, to Metro Parks for the funding of an off-duty officer to clear and lock Waverly Park and Jefferson Memorial Forest on Friday and Saturday nights.

SECTION II:                      The Council has determined the funds requested in this Ordinance will be expended for a public purpose.

SECTION III:                       This grant is subject to the Council’s Policies and Procedures as adopted and effective at the date of passage of this Ordinance.

SECTION IV:                     This Ordinance shall take effect upon its passage and approval.
