A RESOLUTION DETERMINING THE SPIRIT OF JEFFERSON RIVERBOAT OWNED BY LOUISVILLE/JEFFERSON COUNTY METRO GOVERNMENT (“METRO GOVERNMENT”) AS SURPLUS AND NO LONGER NEEDED FOR A GOVERNMENTAL PURPOSE AND AUTHORIZING THE SALE.

WHEREAS, the Spirit of Jefferson was built in 1963 and is in need of significant repairs and improvements that are estimated to cost more than the value of the riverboat;
WHEREAS, Waterfront Development Corporation has replaced the Spirit of Jefferson with the newer Mary M. Miller riverboat that is projected to increase revenue with its capacity to nearly double its number of passengers while maintaining the same operational costs;
WHEREAS, according to KRS 67C.101, Metro Government may sell any real or personal property belonging to Metro Government.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL OF THE LOUISVILLE/JEFFERSON COUNTY METRO GOVERNMENT (THE COUNCIL) AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I: The Council hereby declares that the Spirit of Jefferson is surplus or otherwise no longer needed to carry out the governmental functions of Metro Government.
SECTION II: This Resolution shall take effect upon its passage and approval.
