WHEREAS, Officer Nicolas (“Nick”) Aniceto Rodman with the Louisville Metro Police Department (“LMPD”) nobly lost his life in the line of duty on March 29, 2017;

WHEREAS, Officer Rodman followed in his father and brother’s footsteps by becoming a LMPD officer in 2013, where he took pride in his job and cared deeply for his fellow officers and the citizens of Louisville Metro;

WHEREAS, Officer Rodman was born in Louisville on January 6, 1987 to George and Linda Rodman, and was only 30 years old at the time of his death;

WHEREAS, Officer Rodman was an outstanding student and athlete at Holy Cross High School where he graduated with a 4.0 GPA and held the honor of being an All-District, All-Region football player and All-Star soccer player;

WHEREAS, Officer Rodman continued his education and successes at Georgetown College where he graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Kinesiology and served as the vice president of his fraternity, Pi Kappa Alpha.

WHEREAS, Officer Rodman leaves behind his wife Ashley, his children Mason and Ellie, his parents George and Linda, his siblings Andy and Carly, his grandfather Papa Joe Ellis, and many more family and friends;

WHEREAS, the Louisville/Jefferson Metro Government mourns the passing of Officer Rodman and is grateful for his service and dedication to the safety of its citizens; 

WHEREAS, the Louisville/Jefferson Metro Government wishes to honor Officer Rodman with an honorary street sign.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL OF THE LOUISVILLE/JEFFERSON COUNTY METRO GOVERNMENT AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION I:  Officer Nick Rodman’s service to Louisville Metro is hereby recognized with the placement of three honorary street signs.  The honorary street signs are to be placed at the corner of North 29^th Street and Griffiths Avenue, the corner of North 29^th Street and Garfield Avenue, and directly in front of the LMPD 1^st Division Police Station in Louisville, Kentucky, and so designated as “Officer Nick Rodman Way.” An additional honorary sign will be given to the family. 

SECTION II:  The Department of Public Works is hereby directed to move forward with fabrication and installation of honorary signs upon the passage of this Resolution and the receipt of funds to cover the expense.

SECTION III:                      This Resolution shall take effect upon its passage and approval.
