WHEREAS, the Legislative Council of the Louisville/Jefferson County Metro Government ("Council") wishes to honor Daniel ("Danny") Michael Alvarez as one of the best and most loved members of the legal community;
WHEREAS, Danny was born in New York City to immigrant parents and grew up in an English and Spanish-speaking household where his parents instilled in him the importance of hard work, honesty, and education;
WHEREAS, Danny moved to Louisville in 1989 where he found teachers and mentors who made lasting impressions and taught him about history and social justice;
WHEREAS, Danny is a graduate of St. Francis High School, the University of Louisville, and the University of Louisville's Brandeis School of Law;
WHEREAS, Danny began his legal career at the Jefferson County Public Defender's office where he honed his skills for defending indigent clients and lived by the motto that he provided the "Best Legal Representation Money Can't Buy;"
WHEREAS, Danny opened his own legal practice in 2003 and worked in the areas of criminal defense, personal injury, bankruptcies, with a focus on immigration law because the Latino community was so underrepresented in Louisville;
WHEREAS, Danny received many accolades for his service in the Louisville Metro community, including the receipt of the Louisville Bar Association's Young Lawyer Award in 2007 which is given in recognition of on who has "garnered the respect and admiration of both the judiciary and their colleagues" and was selected as the Top Lawyer by his peers in the Louisville Magazine in both 2013 and 2014;
