A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE LOUISVILLE METRO DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS TO DEVELOP A POLICY REGARDING CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITY IN PRESERVATION DISTRICTS. (AS AMENDED)

WHEREAS, Louisville Metro has seven Preservation Districts which contain many old and historic structures (Cherokee Triangle, Old Louisville, Clifton, Limerick, Butchertown, Parkland, and West Main);

WHEREAS, old and historic structures are often fragile and are subject to damage from excessive vibration;

WHEREAS, construction activity involving certain types of equipment can compromise and damage vulnerable structures unless measures are taken to limit the amount of vibration.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL OF THE LOUISVILLE/JEFFERSON COUNTY METRO GOVERNMENT AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION I: Louisville Metro Public Works is hereby directed to review its policies and procedures to develop measures to protect structures in Preservation Districts from damage caused by excessive vibration from construction and demolition activity and report back to the Public Works committee within 90 days with their recommendations.

SECTION II: This Resolution shall take effect upon its passage and approval.
