A RESOLUTION HONORING HERB FINK BY DEDICATING LEE STREET BETWEEN SECOND AND THIRD STREETS AS “HERB FINK WAY” IN HIS HONOR.

WHEREAS, Herb Fink has been a major preservation organizer and planner in the Old Louisville Neighborhood since the 1970s; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Fink is a long-time valued member of the Old Louisville Neighborhood Council (“OLNC”), which is a steward of Central Park; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Fink has chaired the OLNC’s Property Improvement Committee since its inception about 25 years; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Fink has worked with Metro Parks for decades to improve Central Park and served on the Master Plan Committee in 2005; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Fink provides the leadership needed to organize the volunteer efforts of numerous neighborhood associations, area churches, and non-profits who come together several times each year to improve Central Park by keeping it clean and planting trees; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Fink not only works to improve Central Park but has also led the community’s efforts by working with Metro Government to address neglected and abandoned buildings in Old Louisville and has a strong track record of success; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Fink remains active and concerned about the protection of Central Park and the Old Louisville Neighborhood to this day; and

WHEREAS, the Council is thankful for Mr. Fink’s attention and dedication to Central Park and the Old Louisville Neighborhood.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL OF THE LOUISVILLE/JEFFERSON COUNTY METRO GOVERNMENT AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION I:                      Herb Fink’s dedicated service and commitment to Louisville Metro is hereby recognized with the placement of honorary street signs on Lee Street at the corners of Second and Third Streets in Louisville, Kentucky and so designated as “Herb Fink Way.”

SECTION II:                      The Department of Public Works is hereby directed to move forward with the fabrication and installation of two honorary signs upon the passage of this Resolution and the receipt of funds to cover the expense. 

SECTION III:                      This Resolution shall take effect upon its passage and approval.
