TITLE
A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING SUBMITTAL OF AN ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT FUND APPLICATION TO THE KENTUCKY ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT CABINET BY THE LOUISVILLE & JEFFERSON COUNTY RIVERPORT AUTHORITY FOR THE PREPARATION OF AN INDUSTRIAL PARK WITHIN LOUISVILLE/JEFFERSON COUNTY FOR FUTURE DEVELOPMENT.

WHEREAS, the Louisville & Jefferson County Riverport Authority (“Riverport Authority”) is the owner of certain real property located within Louisville/Jefferson County and identified as industrial park Riverport Phase 5 (“the Property”);
WHEREAS, the Riverport Authority is engaged in the preparation of the Property for future development, including and without limitation: site clearing, access roads, sewer line extensions, water detention and treatment facilities, and the erection of a buffer berm to protect nearby residences (“the Project”);
WHEREAS, it is expected the Project will have a positive affect on the local economy by providing a shovel-ready industrial park to businesses looking to expand or enter the Louisville market;
WHEREAS, the Council desires to support the application and request of the Riverport Authority for up to $500,000 in funding for the Project from the Kentucky Economic Development Cabinet through the Economic Development Fund (“EDF”) program, which funding will enable the creation of substantial job opportunities for the residents of Louisville Metro; and
WHEREAS, it is appropriate that this Resolution be adopted in order to evidence such support.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL OF THE LOUISVILLE/JEFFERSON COUNTY METRO GOVERNMENT (THE COUNCIL) AS FOLLOWS:
Section I: That the Council does hereby approve and support the request of the Louisville & Jefferson County Riverport Authority for funding from the Kentucky Economic Development Cabinet through the Economic Development Fund for the preparation of an industrial park identified in supporting documents as Riverport Phase 5.
Section II: the Council further agrees that the Office for Economic Development shall be responsible for administering the funds awarded to the Riverport Authority from the Economic Development Fund and shall make disbursements thereof in accordance with the guidelines of that program.
Section III: This Resolution shall be effective upon its passage and approval.
