AN EMERGENCY RESOLUTION URGING THE GOVERNOR TO ALLOW CHIROPRACTORS AND PROVIDERS OF OTHER FORMS OF CONSERVATIVE TREATMENT TO OPERATE (AS AMENDED).

WHEREAS, for many people, chiropractors and providers of other forms of conservative treatment are the main pain management method for back and joint pain;

WHEREAS, many people choose chiropractors and providers of other forms of conservative treatment over narcotics for pain relief;

WHEREAS, the Department of Homeland Security (“DHS”) has listed chiropractors among essential critical infrastructure workers;

WHEREAS, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (“CDC”) have provided acceptable guidelines for chiropractic operations;

WHEREAS, the other forty-nine (49) states are allowing chiropractic help under CDC guidelines; and

WHEREAS,  the Chiropractic Associations of Kentucky have submitted their re-start procedures as dictated by the CDC to the Governor’s Office; and

WHEREAS, this Resolution requires emergency consideration as authorized by Council Rule 7.01 because chiropractors and providers of other forms of conservative treatment provide essential care and needed services during a healthcare crisis.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL OF THE LOUISVILLE/JEFFERSON COUNTY METRO GOVERNMENT (“THE COUNCIL”) AS FOLLOWS:

 

SECTION I:  The Council asks the Governor to allow chiropractic services and other forms of conservative treatment to resume in the state of Kentucky, under acceptable CDC guidelines.

SECTION II:  This Resolution shall take effect upon its passage and approval.
