A RESOLUTION HONORING DR. ERIC A. JOHNSON BY DEDICATING THE SOUTHEAST CORNER OF 40TH AND WEST BROADWAY AS "DR. ERIC A. JOHNSON WAY" IN RECOGNITION OF HIS 25TH ANNIVERSARY AS PASTOR.

WHEREAS, the Reverend Dr. Eric A. Johnson has pastored the Greater Galilee Church in the Louisville community since 1995;
WHEREAS, through many deeds of good service, the Reverend Dr. Johnson has grown his church community, knitting together his ministry with a passion to educate and uplift those around him;
WHEREAS, the Reverend Dr. Johnson has contributed many engaging sermons, articles, and academic writings during his lifetime which will leave a legacy of work that will continue to inspire generations after him;
WHEREAS, Dr. Johnson holds the distinction of being an instructor and lecturer for the National Baptist Convention and has also served as the late-night preacher for NBC, USA, Inc.;
WHEREAS, in 2006, Dr. Johnson's efforts consummated a partnership with the Georgetown College to assist students in inner city districts;
WHEREAS, the Reverend Dr. Johnson served as a preaching professor for Simmons College of Kentucky, and as an adjunct Professor of Preaching at Campbellsville University; and
WHEREAS, in recognition of his outstanding achievements in his ministry and academic career, the community wishes to honor the Reverend Dr. Johnson.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL OF THE LOUISVILLE/JEFFERSON COUNTY METRO AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I: The Reverend Dr. Eric A. Johnson's service to Louisville Metro be honored with an honorary street sign on the southeast corner of 40th and West Broadway in Louisville, Kentucky, designated as "Dr. Eric A. Johnson Way."
