A RESOLUTION HONORING THE LEGACY OF FORMER LOUISVILLE ZOO DIRECTOR JOHN WALCZAK BY DEDICATING THE HERPAQUARIUM BUILDING AS THE “JOHN WALCZAK HERPAQUARIUM” IN RECOGNITION OF HIS DEDICATION AND SERVICE TO THE LOUISVILLE ZOO.

WHEREAS, John Walczak has been a Louisville Zoo employee for 36 years;
WHEREAS, John Walczak has been the Director of the Louisville Zoo since 2004;
WHEREAS, Glacier Run, Gorilla Forest and the Splash Park have all been created under John Walczak’s leadership; and
WHEREAS, Director of Facilities has approved the naming of the HerpAquarium Building in honor of former Director John Walczak pursuant to Louisville/Jefferson County Metro Government Code of Ordinances, Section 39.033.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL OF THE LOUISVILLE/ JEFFERSON COUNTY METRO AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I: Former Director John Walczak’s service to the Louisville/Jefferson County Metro Government, on behalf of the Louisville Zoo, be honored by designating the HerpaAquarium Building at the Louisville Zoo the “John Walczak HerpaAquarium Building”. The Office of Facilities Management is hereby directed to move forward with all necessary fabrication and installation of the honorary naming of the building upon the passage of the resolution and the receipt of funds to cover the expense.
SECTION II: This Resolution shall take effect upon its passage and approval.
