A RESOLUTION OF THE LOUISVILLE METRO COUNCIL AMENDING THE METRO COUNCIL EMPLOYEE HANDBOOK CONCERNING THE METRO COUNCIL SOCIAL MEDIA ACCOUNT USAGE.

WHEREAS, the Louisville Metro Council ("Metro Council") seeks to amend the section of its Employee Handbook governing its Social Media Account Usage; and
WHEREAS, the Metro Council's current Social Media Account Usage section of its Personnel Handbook only permits its social media to be used exclusively for streaming Council or committee meetings; and
WHEREAS, the Metro Council wants to ensure that its messaging is consistent across all its social media platforms and this will be accomplished by permitting its Media Director to solely post to its social media accounts.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL OF THE LOUISVILLE/JEFFERSON COUNTY METRO GOVERNMENT AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I: The Louisville Metro Council Personnel Handbook's Social Media Account Usage provision, as contained in the Louisville Metro Council Policies and Procedures, is hereby amended as follows:
METRO COUNCIL SOCIAL MEDIA ACCOUNT USAGE. This policy applies to and outlines appropriate use of Metro Council social media accounts, including but not limited to its Facebook page and Twitter account. Metro Council social media may be used exclusively for streaming Council or committee meetings and for postings made solely by the Metro Council Media Director. No other use of any Metro Council account is permitted.
SECTION II: This Resolution shall take effect upon its passage.
