TITLE
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE LOUISVILLE/JEFFERSON COUNTY METRO GOVERNMENT CODE OF ORDINANCES ("LMCO") CHAPTER 42 TO ELIMINATE FEES THAT MAY CREATE AN OBSTACLE TO BENEFICIAL YOUTH ORIENTED PROGRAMS.

WHEREAS, youth sports provide children with positive activities, enhancing their development, growth and connection to our community;
WHEREAS, park fees may create an unnecessary financial burden and obstacle to youth participation in these beneficial activities; and
WHEREAS, the goal of Louisville Metro Government is to encourage community involvement and provide rewarding opportunities to our youth, this amendment may open the door to children who may otherwise have been unable to participate with a local sports league due to cost.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL OF THE LOUISVILLE/JEFFERSON COUNTY METRO GOVERNMENT AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I: The following sections of LMCO Chapter 42 are amended as follows:
? 42.33 FEES ASSOCIATED WITH USE OF PARK AND OTHER METRO OWNED PROPERTY AND EQUIPMENT.
(A) Definitions. For the purposes of this section of the LMCO, the following definitions shall apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning.
METRO GOVERNMENT EVENT. Metro Government Event includes the following:
METRO HELD EVENTS. Events planned, organized, and presented by Metro Officials on Metro-owned property for educational or informational purposes, even if financial sponsorships are solicited for the event. By way of example, such events include, but are not limited to, townhall meetings and educational sessions on health or public safety.
METRO SPONSORED EVENTS. Annual entertainment events held by non-Metro organizations on Metro-owned property, with sponsorship by a Metro Official, even if financial sponsorships from entities other than a Metro Official are solicite...
