A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO A GRANT AGREEMENT IN THE AMOUNT OF $21,416,800.00 WITH THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION, OFFICE OF THE SECRETARY OF TRANSPORTATION, TO EXECUTE ANY DOCUMENTS NECESSARY TO FACILITATE AND ADMINISTER, THROUGH THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS & ASSETS, THE ACCEPTANCE OF FUNDS FOR SAFETY IMPROVEMENTS TO INCLUDE THE RIGHTSIZING OR RECONFIGURATION OF TEN ROADWAY CORRIDORS.

WHEREAS, Louisville Metro Government wishes to enter into a grant agreement in the amount of $21,416,800.00 with the U.S. Department of Transportation, Office of the Secretary of Transportation, to execute any documents necessary to facilitate and administer, through the Department of Public Works & Assets, the acceptance of funds for safety improvements to include the rightsizing or reconfiguration of ten roadway corridors; and
WHEREAS, the Louisville Metro Government and the U.S. Department of Transportation, Office of the Secretary of Transportation have negotiated an Agreement, pursuant to which the U.S. Department of Transportation, Office of the Secretary of Transportation shall pay Twenty-One Million Four Hundred Sixteen Thousand Dollars ($21,416,00.00) to Louisville Metro Government for the Project; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Public Works & Assets will be the lead agency and perform all phases of the Project, which will enhance the safety and reliability of roadway corridors; and
WHEREAS, the Agreement provides that the Legislative Council of Louisville/Jefferson County Metro Government will pass a resolution authorizing the Mayor to enter into the Agreement and ratifying and adopting all statements, representations, warranties, covenants, and agreements contained in the Agreement; and
WHEREAS, Louisville Metro will receive benefits from the Rightsizing Louisville for Safe Streets project.
