A RESOLUTION RENAMING BALLARD PARK TO “SMOKETOWN-BALLARD PARK.”

WHEREAS, Ballard Park is located within the Smoketown Neighborhood of Louisville/Jefferson County Metro Government (“Metro”); and
WHEREAS, Metro wishes to increase neighborhood recognition and identity among its citizens; and
WHEREAS, fostering neighborhood identity cultivates a sense of belonging and community cohesion among Metro’s citizens, enhancing social support networks and promoting overall well-being; and
WHEREAS, the establishment of strong neighborhood identities empowers citizens with a collective voice, facilitating grassroots initiatives, encouraging civic engagement, and leading to a more vibrant and resilient local community.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL OF THE LOUISVILLE/ JEFFERSON COUNTY METRO AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I: Pursuant to Louisville/Jefferson County Metro Government Code of Ordinances, Section 39.033, Director of Facilities and Fleet Management has approved the request to rename Ballard Park to “Smoketown-Ballard Park” and is hereby directed to update its literature and information regarding the name change and to move forward with all necessary fabrications and installations of the new signage.
SECTION II: This Resolution shall take effect upon its passage and approval or otherwise becoming law.
