A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ACCEPT A GRANT AWARD OF $75,000 FROM THE KENTUCKY ENERGY AND ENVIRONMENT CABINET, DEPARTMENT FOR ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION, FOR THE IROQUOIS PARK PLAYGROUND RUBBER MULCH PROJECT TO BE ADMNISTERED BY THE DEPARTMENT OF PARKS AND RECREATION.

WHEREAS, the Kentucky Energy and Environment Cabinet, Department for Environmental Protection, provides grant funding for the purchase and installation of recycled tire-derived playground surfacing materials; and
WHEREAS, Louisville Metro Government has been awarded a Crumb Rubber/Tire-Derived Products Grant in the amount of $75,000 to support the development of a safer and more sustainable playground surface for the new Iroquois Park Playground Project; and
WHEREAS, the Louisville Metro Government wishes to take advantage of this opportunity through the Department of Parks and Recreation.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL OF THE LOUISVILLE/JEFFERSON COUNTY METRO GOVERNMENT AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I: The Mayor is hereby authorized to accept a grant award in the amount of $75,000 from the Kentucky Energy and Environment Cabinet, Department for Environmental Protection, for the Iroquois Park Playground Rubber Mulch Project, to be administered by Louisville Metro Parks and Recreation.
SECTION II: This Resolution shall take effect upon its passage and approval or otherwise becoming law.
