A RESOLUTION AMENDING SECTION 10.07 OF THE RULES OF THE LOUISVILLE/JEFFERSON COUNTY METRO GOVERNMENT COUNCIL

WHEREAS, the Rules of the Council, Section 10, titled Vacancies, provides the procedures for member vacancies that occur on Metro Council, but Section 10 lacks a provision to address a vacancy that occurs upon the death of a Metro Council President.
WHEREAS, Metro Council wishes to amend the Rules of the Council to allow the members of Metro Council to elect a Metro Council President after the untimely passing of President Jim King.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL OF THE LOUISVILLE/JEFFERSON COUNTY METRO GOVERNMENT (THE COUNCIL) AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: Section 10.07 of the Rules of the Louisville/Jefferson County Metro Government Council is hereby amended to read as follows:
10.07
Upon a finding of disability of the President, the Council shall elect a permanent President Pro-Tem who shall perform all of the duties of the President of the Council until the expiration of the President's term or until the Council by majority vote shall declare that the President again is able to perform the duties of office. Upon the death of the President, the Council shall elect a President from one of its members at one of the next two Council meetings after his or her reported death to fill out the unexpired term of such President.
Section 2: This resolution shall be effective upon its passage and approval.
