A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING METRO GOVERNMENT TO ENDORSE ITS HAZARD MITIGATION PLAN UPDATE.

WHEREAS, Louisville/Jefferson County Metro Government (“Metro Government”) through the assistance of LOJIC and the Hazards Mitigation Planning Team and Advisory Committee pledged to endorse the development of a disaster resistant community plan using the guidance of the Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000; and
WHEREAS, Louisville Metro Emergency Management Agency (EMA) serves as the coordinator for the development of the All Hazards Mitigation Plan and will guide the planning process and assist the committees in developing appropriate mitigation activities to resolve or reduce the natural hazards inherent to our community; and
WHEREAS, the results of the committee’s work will update the proactive community mitigation plan that will save lives and help government, local agencies, residents and businesses to prepare for a natural disaster and prevent or reduce losses.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL OF METRO GOVERNMENT (THE COUNCIL) TO ENDORSE UPDATING THE COMMUNITY’S HAZARD MITIGATION PLAN UPDATE:
SECTION I: This Resolution shall take effect upon its passage and approval.
