WHEREAS, Dr. F. Bruce Williams was born to Rev. Earl B. and Norrene T. Williams at Langley Air Force Base in Hampton, Virginia on July 19, 1959;
WHEREAS, Dr. Williams and his wife, Dr. Michelle Williams, have two daughters, Imani and Nailah Cymone.
WHEREAS, Dr. Williams graduated Summa Cum Laude from Florida A&M University, obtained his Masters of Divinity from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, and earned his Doctorate in Ministry from the United Theological Seminary;
WHEREAS, Dr. Williams is committed to changing the lives of the marginalized people that society has forgotten;
WHEREAS, in 1986, after serving as an associate minister, Dr. Williams was installed as Senior Pastor at Bates Memorial Baptist Church in the Smoketown neighborhood in Louisville, which is considered one of Louisville's poorest neighborhoods, and under Dr. Williams' leadership the church has grown exponentially in membership and ministry opportunities;
WHEREAS, Dr. Williams is Chairman of the Board for the Bates Community Development Corporation, is a board member of Metro Bank and the trustee board of Simmons College of Kentucky, formerly served on the African American Pulpit Advisory Board, and is a Bingham Fellows Graduate.
WHEREAS, Dr. Williams has been honored in numerous ways, including, but not limited to, being inducted into the William H. Sheppard Excellence in the Community Hall of Fame in 2005 and the Presbyterian Community Center Hall of Fame in 2007; being nominated for the Kentucky Civil Rights Hall of Fame; having his sermon The Marks of an Irresistible Church featured in the Summer 2006 edition of The African American Pulpit; being featured in the inaugural edition of Who'...
