WHEREAS, The Domestic Violence Prevention Coordinating Council (DVPCC) was established to improve inter-agency cooperation and communication in the area of domestic violence and abuse; to promote effective prevention, intervention, and treatment based upon research and data collection; and to improve the system response to domestic violence and abuse so as to reduce incidents thereof;
WHEREAS, the DVPCC recommends modifying the ordinance to update the membership list and to clearly differentiate between individuals serving by virtue of office and appointed representatives; and
WHEREAS, the DVPCC also recommends amending the ordinance to make the provisions, i.e. appointed terms and procedures, more consistent with other Louisville Metro Government appointed entities.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL OF THE LOUISVILLE/JEFFERSON COUNTY METRO GOVERNMENT (THE COUNCIL) AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I: LMCO Section 32.977 is hereby amended as follows:
? 32.977 MEMBERSHIP.
(A) The business, activities and affairs of the Council shall be managed by its membership which shall include, but is not limited to, the following or their representatives:
(A) Membership includes the following, who shall serve by virtue of office or position or their designated representative from their respective office:
Mayor, Louisville/Jefferson County Metro Government;
Public Protection Secretary, Louisville/Jefferson County Metro Government;
President, of the Louisville Metro Council;
Chief, Louisville Metro Police Department Chief;
Jefferson County Attorney;
Jefferson County Commonwealth's Attorney;
Jefferson County Circuit Court Clerk;
Jefferson County Sheriff;...
