WHEREAS, Reverend Johnson has been an ordained minister since 1986 in Louisville, KY;
WHEREAS, Reverend Johnson played an active role in Louisville Metro-particularly as a board member of the NAACP Interdenominational Ministerial Coalition in which he worked alongside other pastors and assisted to encourage, engage, and empower others while presenting holistic approaches to local issues;
WHEREAS, Reverend Johnson displayed untiring service as Vice President of the Green Ridge Estates HOA as well as a Member of the Southwest YMCA;
WHEREAS, Reverend Johnson's work with the youth sports program as the boys' basketball coach in which young individuals have an opportunity to be mentored, encouraged, inspired, as well as increase their spiritual growth regardless of church affiliation, age, race or walk of life;
WHEREAS, Reverend Johnson is the Co-Founder of the Black Firefighter Association of Louisville and his foresight built a strong following among professional black firefighters by providing current and relevant news to them which promoted meaningful discussions and potential solutions to professional and personal issues, and addressed social and health awareness; and
WHEREAS, the Council is grateful for Reverend Johnson's service and dedication to our community.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL OF THE LOUISVILLE/JEFFERSON COUNTY METRO GOVERNMENT AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I: Reverend Fred Johnson's dedicated service and commitment to Louisville Metro is hereby recognized with the placement of an honorary street sign on the SW corner of 7th Street and Algonquin Parkway in Louisville, Kentucky and so designated as "Reverend Fred Johnson Way".
