AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 073, SERIES 2020 RELATING TO THE FISCAL YEAR 2020-2021 OPERATING BUDGET FOR THE LOUISVILLE/JEFFERSON COUNTY METRO GOVERNMENT BY APPROPRIATING $10,000,000 OF GENERAL FUND COMMITTED FUND BALANCE FROM FISCAL YEAR 2019-2020 TO THE OFFICE OF RESILIENCE & COMMUNITY SERVICES FOR UTILITY ASSISTANCE GRANTS.

WHEREAS, the COVID-19 pandemic has had a devastating effect on the health of Louisville Metro residents; and
WHEREAS, the COVID-19 pandemic has caused an economic recession that has widely affected the personal finances of many Louisville Metro residents; and
WHEREAS, it is in the public interest to maintain Louisville Metro residents' access to such vital services as water, sewer, and gas & electric utilities; and
WHEREAS, it is appropriate to provide grant relief to such residents for both their financial and health concerns to benefit the entirety of the community by slowing the spread of the virus.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL OF THE LOUISVILLE/JEFFERSON COUNTY METRO GOVERNMENT AS FOLLOWS:
