WHEREAS, The Legislative Council of the Louisville/Jefferson County Metro Government (the "Council") in 2019 passed Ordinance 128, Series 2019, "An Ordinance Amending Ordinance 15, Series 2008, The Complete Streets Policy And Adopting The Policy As An Amendment To Plan 2040, The Comprehensive Plan (Case No. 19AREAPLAN0001)," which made Metro's Complete Streets Policy a part of Plan 2040; and
WHEREAS, a As part of that same ordinance, the Council created Section 5. Implementation and Reporting of the Complete Streets Policy to ensure uniform compliance with policy throughout Louisville Metro; and
WHEREAS, Section 5.A.2 provided for a community engagement process for both the implementation of specific Complete Streets projects and ongoing communication with residents and businesses; and
WHEREAS, The Louisville Metro Department of Public Works ("Public Works") determined that the best way to receive ongoing meaningful input from the public that creates a more comprehensive understanding of needs and opportunities is to create a Complete Streets Committee also known as the Complete Streets Coalition; and
WHEREAS, tThe Complete Streets Coalition will increase accessibility, coordination, equity, and transparency in the transportation and mobility systems infrastructure of Louisville Metro by allowing ensuring our community has a greater impact on the planning process a seat at the table; and
WHEREAS, mMost peer cities have a road safety committee whose membership includes community organizations, government agencies, and citizens; and
WHEREAS, Metro Council wishes to consider formally adopting a Complete Streets Coalition as part of the Complete Streets Policy including its mission, composition, and scope; and ...
