WHEREAS, the Metro Government wishes to enter into this agreement through the Economic Development; and

WHEREAS, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), and Data Science are poised to transform the global economy, particularly in key Louisville industry clusters; and

WHEREAS, the activities alluded to primarily include the staff and work of a grant-funded Louisville AI Team, yet to be created, whose members will work with local companies and stakeholders to identify AI-ready problems and solutions in the service of making Louisville a regional hub for AI, IoT, and Data Science and position our community for growth of family-supporting jobs in a quickly changing economy;

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL OF THE LOUISVILLE/JEFFERSON COUNTY METRO GOVERNMENT (THE COUNCIL) AS FOLLOWS:

 

SECTION I:                     That the Mayor is hereby authorized to accept an amount not-to-exceed $695,000 from the Community Foundation of Louisville, to be administered by the Department of Economic Development, to fund certain activities described in the AI Innovation Digital Alliance.

 

SECTION II:  This Resolution shall take effect upon its passage and approval.
